I have hand pruners, loppers, and a larger saw that I use on trees and bushes in the yard. I tend to go to electric chain saws if I need something bigger. This saw fits well between the items that are too big for the loppers and too small for the hand saw. These don't work well for really small branches that fit between the saw teeth so my hand pruners are still used often. The hand saw is much harder to carry around so I don't get it out until I find a need for it. This foldable unit is small enough I can carry it around with my other tools and when folded, I don't have to worry about cutting myself when carrying a handful of tools. It works well but the saw does have a little bit of flex when in the open position. I'd prefer the blade didnt move at all from the handle when open. But it doesn't seem to affect my using it. The channel in the handle is quite noticeable while cutting with the saw, but not truly uncomfortable - especially if wearing yard gloves.I haven't had this long at all, but I haven't used the larger hand saw since I've used this. It really is that more convenient due to the smaller size. When I've needed something larger, I've opted for my electric chain saw - so I could likely get rid of the the hand saw at this point.I got this because I have a lot of trees. Lots of trees mean lots of saplings in odd places. I also deal with a stubborn bush in the middle of a hosta I have been trying to get rid of for years. Plus overgrowth from my neighbor's tree that is trying to block my driveway...anyway, I felt like I would have a lot of projects with which this pruning saw could help. And it did, for the most part. There seems to be a very specific sweet spot in which this saw is effective. Too small, or too fresh, and the branches get tangled in the teeth. Too large, and you will be sawing for an hour. But within about half an inch to 4 or 5 inches in diameter, and it works like a champ! I got the recalcitrant bush under control in about 3 minutes. I cut back the overgrowth on my driveway like nothing. Saplings? Obliterated. If you have projects that fall within the parameters I outlined, this is a great choice. If you have patience, you can do larger projects, as well. Smaller projects, you are going to want to invest in shears. But I am very pleased! This handheld saw is very useful for trimming trees limbs that fall between larger chainsaw trims and small clipper trims; basically between golf ball and baseball thickness. The blade length and leverage available with so small a tool means you're going to get an arm workout on bigger cuts (it's actually a fairly thick blade), but this is very handy for pruning where you can reach, and I like the collapsible blade for safety when not in use.I have a small stand of woods behind my house and I use this pruning saw to keep the trees nicely shaped. The saw is sharp and cuts through 2-3 inch branches very easily. Watch the video on the product detail page to see how it's done.I like that this saw folds to protect the blade and to keep the sharp bits from hurting anyone when the saw is not in use. It fits nicely in a drawer of my tool box. This is a handy, sturdy little saw and I highly recommend it.
