Used this hole saw to cut 3.5 hole in a 1x6 board saw is not very sharp took all it could do to cut 2 holes I would not even try in metal but in wood if you baby it maby I'll get a couple more holes would not buy again.i only purchased this Hole Saw to Cut 6” Holes in hydroponic Pail Lids to accommodate my 6” Net Pots, so it did the job well.this hole saw was more expensive than some others, with Bad Reviews, so i got it so that i could use it for wood, if need be, i doubt that i would use it on metal, but you never knowThis hole saw cut well, but the set screw went missing after 2 holes. Perhaps I should have tightened the screw before using it, but I've never had to tighten the set screw that holds the centering bit in place on any other hole saw I have owned.Unless I have an appropriate screw in the shop (and manage to find it) this tool is now useless.I was going to buy an expensive hole saw but it was going to take a month to get it so I bought this one instead. I used it to cut 6” holes in 29 gauge sheet metal. I only cut 12 holes but the saw is still very sharpe. I have had hole saws in the past dull after two holes in sheet metal.I had zero tearing, ripping or blowout. All cuts were very clean. I cut out about 25 holes in drywall for recessed LED lights, and for a few I had to cut through plywood. I used a different mandrel I already had with a safety lock that prevents lockup/unscrewing issues, not the one it came with. This hole saw cut very easily, and stayed sharp as expected. Not sure how it would hold up against plaster, but if you're using it on drywall or plywood it does the job easily. If you're using this with a powerful drill, use a drill handle if it comes with it. Start your cut in reverse and go slow to prevent skipping and tearing the paper, then set to forward and finish.Does NOT hold up well if you are cutting holes in plaster, after 4 holes all teeth were missing.I have only used them on wood and they work just fine. But I don't know how long they will last seems like the one I have used the most is starting to dull. This worked fine for my project. The blade was sharp and it cut well. However, the bit wasn't quite deep enough to go all the way through the board I was cutting, which meant I had to go fron front-to-back and then back-to-front to get a clean cut. Hard to blame this on the drill-bit, definitely "user error," as they say. But, make sure that this is deep enough for your intended use.Worked for drywall. Did like the metal spring/sleeve protection on centre drill bit. Although it was almost off due to shipping movement .
